The device prevents you from starting a car if it detects alcohol on your breath. An IID will remain installed from a few months to several years following license restoration.
Community service – A minimum of 30 days of community service is mandatory for second and third offenses.
Auto insurance surcharge – For the first and second offenses, offenders face a $1,000 annual surcharge for three years. This increases to $1,500 for a third or subsequent offense.
IDRC Participation – Attendance at the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center is mandatory for all offenses. This involves a minimum of six hours a day for two consecutive days of participation, along with additional evaluation and program requirements.
